St Alban’s Church which serves the communities of South Norwood and Thornton Heath opened its food bank for the local community on 5th October 2022.
It runs weekly every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm. We distribute between 45 and 55 bags of food weekly.
We are a church with modest resources but rich in faith and love for our local community. We would greatly appreciate donations of non-perishable items to support the food bank we are offering to anyone in our local community who needs it.
Food is collected through donations from individuals, schools, and businesses, and volunteers sort and distribute it to those in need.
On you visit to the food bank, we will give you a food parcel. Please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.
Every Wednesday 11am – 1pm.

The staff working at our food bank are all volunteers and trying their best to help you, so please be kind to them.
No, just turn up! We register you on site with your address and contact. But you don’t need to register again.
Yes, we have two types of bags: single, or family. In a family bag there are extra items for your children.
A single bag contains 5 items for a meal. This includes tins, pasta/ rice, tea or coffee… The items change depending on what donations have been made in the week. Please return your bag!
If you have any dietary requirements, we accommodate for your needs. But we try to be strict in giving 5 items, as this is an emergency food package and not a shop.
No, you can only collect on site. If there is a disability issue then please inquire in person.
Most of our food and donations come from St Alban’s church congregation, including the volunteers. We also receive donations from many other local churches and organisations such as Whitehorse Academy Schools and Nurseries, Sickle Cell Society etc.
No, it’s all free. But we accept donations which go to buying more food for the weeks to come. A donation button is below.
St Alban’s foodbank is for everyone, no matter what your religion. We would love for you to be part of our church family in a way that suits you. Speak to one of the clergy about joining us!
We have a variety of donations such as clothes and children’s toys that are free. Take only 2 items at a time, as there are many others who need the items too. There are also toiletries available, but limited as they arrive by donations.
The short answer is, yes! But you will need to speak to Mark our organiser about recruitment. Just ask when you come to visit.
The church is open every day, so please leave a donation in a box at the back. A list of items we need is below. All non-perishable.
Please speak to one of us about what else you might bring. We accept decent clothes, particularly heavy coats, and quality toys for children.
