St Alban's Calendar

As we enter October, the beauty of autumn begins to unfold around us. The changing season reminds us of God’s faithfulness and the abundance of His blessings, inviting us to pause, reflect, and give thanks for His presence in our lives.

October is traditionally a month of thanksgiving and harvest, when we give thanks not only for the fruits of the earth but also for the people, communities, and relationships that enrich our lives and strengthen our faith.

This month, we join Christians across the country in observing Black History Month, celebrating the rich diversity of God’s people and giving thanks for the many contributions of Black Christians to the life of the Church. We look forward to our Black History Month Service on 11 October, followed by an Afro-Caribbean lunch in the church hall, offering an opportunity to worship, celebrate, and share fellowship together.

October is also a busy and exciting month for Divinitus. On 14 October, young adults are invited to join us for Mass and a social gathering, creating an opportunity to grow in faith and friendship. We also look forward to the Divinitus Pilgrimage to St Alban’s Cathedral on 17 October, a chance to visit one of Britain’s most significant Christian sites and to journey together in prayer and fellowship.

We are delighted to host the Mothers’ Union 150th Anniversary Celebration on 17 October. As Mothers’ Union members from across the area gather with us, we give thanks for 150 years of faithful service, support, and Christian witness, and pray for God’s continued blessing upon this important ministry.

Later in the month, we will come together for our Church Clean on 24 October, caring for the place that has been at the heart of our worship and community life for so many years. Everyone is warmly invited to lend a hand.

At St Alban’s, October is a month of gratitude, celebration, and fellowship. As the evenings draw in and autumn takes hold, may we continue to grow in faith, deepen our love for one another, and find joy in all that God is doing among us.
