Funerals & Memorial Services

Funerals

A Church of England funeral is available to everyone. Whether you are a person of faith, unsure what you believe, or simply seeking a caring place to honour your loved one, St Alban’s is here to support you — before, during and after the service, for as long as you need.

Your loved one does not need to be baptised, a church community member or a Christian. We can offer a funeral to anyone.

The service may include celebration of your loved one’s life. But it is more than that. The heart of the service recognises that everyone was made by God, that he loves them. In the service we entrust that special person into God’s safekeeping.

The traditional words of the Church of England funeral service have been used for generations, and because they are so well recognised can bring comfort to family members.

Memorial Services

A memorial service is a special gathering to celebrate and remember someone’s life, usually held after the funeral or cremation.

These services often focus on shared stories, music, photographs, and personal reflections — a chance to honour a life lived, surrounded by the people who loved them.

Whether you prefer something faith‑based or more reflective in tone, we can help you craft a meaningful and uplifting service that truly captures the person’s spirit.
